Over-specialization is the curse of our civilization

I'm sick of the distinction between blue-collar and white-collar workers.

The blue-collar people think they're hot shit because they solve the hard problems. They know how to build. They look down on white-collar workers who are only solving trivial problems. Blue-collar workers build the real things. They don't have time to learn about spreadsheets or a wretched scheme like Wall street. Without them, a nation can never be successful.

The white-collar workers think they're hot shit because they're the closest to the trade. They know to perfect a business process. They look down on blue-collar workers who have no idea how the produce is actually used. White-collar workers build the real things. They don't have time to learn about crop rotation or wretched schemes like shift work. Without them, a nation can never be successful.

You're both wrong. You must do both or you'll be irrelevant (somewhere).

Over-specialization is the curse of our civilization. Stratification breeds condescension. The only remedy is for all workers to do everything.
